Cocktails

We know cocktails are normally associated with the Summer but there are so many Winter Cocktails that you just have to incorporate into your Winter Hen Party! From the classic Mulled Wine to a yummy old fashioned and loads more. There is a winter cocktail to suit ever bride to be and her hens. And if you fancy learning how to make these delicious cocktails yourself why not take a cocktail making class, available on all our packages nationwide!

Black and Sparkles

If you are having a winter hen party why not create a winter colour scheme for all the chicks to stick to? Let the bride to be wear sparkles and the rest of the group black or something along those lines. This way the bride to be will stand out from the crowd! We just love this idea!

With Mother’s Day this weekend we couldn’t help but think should your mother come on the hen? This has been a question on many brides minds for a long long time and to be honest the answer hasn’t really changed all that much. Simply put if you want her there then she should be there, this decision is 100% up to the bride to be!

Whether you get on great with your mother or if she gets on your nerves asking her to the hen party is a big deal! Sometimes it can determine how the hen party will go, what activity you will do, whether you’ll end up in a nightclub, whether there’ll be a stripper, the list goes on. So you really need to consider all these things before asking her. It’s as much for your enjoyment as it is for hers. She definitely won’t like sitting in the corner like a prune while everyone else is having fun!

What activities can you do?

There are so many activities out there that are so much fun and will keep the bride to be and her mother (and maybe mother in law) happy! One activity we just love to kick off the hen party is Afternoon Tea. Afternoon Tea is classy, fun and more importantly super tasty! Or if your mam doesn’t mind a little bit of cheekiness why not do a Paint a Nude class or Build a Willy. They won’t require any major effort but all the group will definitely love them!

It Could Make the Day Really Special

Having your mother on your hen party with you can be a really special experience. She was more than likely your first female influence and one of the people that you value most in the world. Sharing your last big weekend as a single woman is a big deal so your mam will more then likely be delighted to be included in that!

Invite Someone Else Her Age Too

Just to make sure that your mother doesn’t feel like the oldie among all the spring chicks invite someone else the same age to come too. Whether it’s an aunt, your mother in law or a cousin. Someone that your mam knows well enough to hold a conversation with is always a good idea.

Of course there are some drawbacks to having your mam come on your hen party. It’s possible you may not feel like you can relax and unwind as much as you should on your big weekend. If this is how you think you will feel then it’s probably best not to invite her. Having your mam on your hen though can make the night even more memorable!

If you want to make the best of both worlds why not have a mini hen party before or after the real one for the more mature group. That way you can invite your mother, mother in law and any other aunts, cousins or friends you like. Again think something classy and elegant!

To all the chicks heading on a hen party for St Patrick’s weekend, have you realised how lucky you are! On St Patrick’s weekend it’s a known fact that everyone Irish is in a great mood (weather it’s from drink or their just happy). This makes Paddy’s Weekend one of the best times of the year to have a hen. The pubs are packed (in a good way), spirits are high and everyone is ready to party! What’s not to love! So if you’re heading off on a hen party this weekend here’s everything you need to know;

Wear Green

Wearing green on St Patrick’s Day is practically law, whether it’s a full green ensemble, some green face paint or a little green ribbon, it’s essential that you work some into your outfit some how. Why not get all the chicks some green ribbon for their hair, that way you’ll all be clearly a group without going totally over the top. Just make sure that the bride to be stands out from the crowd in some way, try convince her to wear a green garter or veil! You’ll all look brilliant!

You Must Have at Least One Green Drink

No matter where you are going throughout the day, whether it’s just the local or a bopping nightclub you have to have at least one green drink. We recommend the group all do a shot of fat frog or have a green cocktail. Don’t forget this is a perfect photo opp so have the phones at the ready!

Talk to the Locals

If you are going somewhere new for the hen party why not head into the local. Chances are there’ll be a trad session of sorts going on which will really kick the night into high gear! Why not have a chat with the locals there too, they’ll probably end up being the life of the party!

Be as creative as you like just make sure that it’s realistic too!

A Year of Firsts

Another brilliant way to surprise the bride to be on the hen party is with our Year of Firsts Idea. A Year of Firsts involves the lovely couple celebrating each big moment in their first year of marriage. Fill a basket with bottles of wine with handwritten tags explaining when to open each bottle. Jenga Dares

Jenga Dares is another game where you don’t need any alcohol for it to go amazingly well! This game is really cheeky and fun and will kick off the night with a bang! Basically it is the exact same as regular Jenga but for each piece that you pull out there is a dare written on it. Each of the chicks must then complete the dare. Of course you can incorporate alcohol into this but it is definitely not needed!

So to help you out for your big weekend we’ve compiled a list of the 5 Must Play Games for your Hen Party.

Mr and Mrs Game

The Mr and Mrs Game is a classic when it comes to hen parties. The Maid of Honour or the Bridesmaids compile a list of questions for the bride and groom. The questions are based around their relationship. Before the hen party the groom is asked these questions and the answers are noted. Filming the groom being asked and answering the questions makes it even better. The bride is then asked the same questions. If their answers match they get a point. To make this game even more fun give it a forfeit, for every question the bride to be gets wrong she has to complete a dare or take a shot! The Mr and Mrs Game is absolutely hilarious and a definite must for the bride to be’s hen!

Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Game

This is another classic for hen parties! Get all the chicks into groups of 3/4 depending on the size of the hen party. Give each group a few rolls of toilet paper and the task of creating a wedding dress. The aim of this is to be as creative as possible! Once an allotted time has passed each of the groups must model their masterpiece. After this the bride gets to choose her favourite and the losers must complete a forfeit or dare. The Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Game is an absolute must for the hen! We LOVE it!

Pin the Body Part

We’ve all played Pin the Tail on the Donkey but who’s ever played Pin the Body Part? Pin the Body Part, also known as Pin the Junk on the Hunk follows the basic rules of pin the tail on the donkey with a cheeky twist. Print a poster size picture of a naked man and hang it on the wall.  Draw out some body parts and put blue tack on them or use thumb tacks. It’s  up to you how cheeky you want the game to be by what body parts you choose…(is it getting hot in here :P) The bride and the rest of the chicks then have to try and get each of the body parts in the right places while wearing a blindfold. Pin the Body Part is so easy to plan but will definitely kick off the night with a bang!

Find the Guy

Find the Guy is one of our fave games for the night out! Our Find the Guy game is where all the chicks have a list of men with particular characteristics or looks and must take a picture with them. The person that ticks off every type of man on the list first is the winner. The other chicks must complete a forfeit or dare. This game is absolutely hilarious and is a great way to get the night started. Different types of men include a bald man, a gay man, a biker, a man with glasses and a man wearing a jersey (probs won’t be hard to find in Ireland). Whatever you can think of goes, but to crown the winner there must be sufficient photographic evidence!

Bubble Gum Game

The last game that we have chosen for our list of 5 Must Play Games for your Hen Party is the Bubble Gum Game. We love the Bubble Gum game for the journey to the hen party. Buy a few packets of bubble gum and compile a list of questions about the groom and ask them to the bride to be. For every question that she gets wrong she must put a new piece of bubble gum into her mouth. As you can imagine the more questions she gets wrong the harder it will be for her to speak and answer the questions. This game is hilarious and a great way to test how well the bride to be knows her future husband.

Sex and the City is such a fabulous theme for your hen party! Most chicks we know love the hit programme and movie as much as we do! Do you and your friends constantly compare yourselves to the characters? If so this is defintely for you. Best thing about the Sex and the City theme is that it is jam packed full of glamour, YEEESSS! Team this theme up with a cocktail making class activity and you are good to go! Is that the sound of a Manhattan pouring we hear?

Black and White

Why not keep things simple with a black and white theme for the hen party. If the bride to be likes simple but sophisticated then she will love this! Get all of the chicks to dress in black and the bride to be wears white. Make sure to decorate/ wear black and white accessories as well to keep the theme running throughout!

80’s Chicks

A hen party just isn’t complete without a cocktail or two. Whether you like your cocktails simple, fruity or packed full of the hard stuff, they are a must for the big weekend! To help you out with your planning chicks we’ve come up with 3 Delicious Cocktails For Your Hen Party! Perfect for every bride to be.

Mojito

We just LOVE a good Mojito, especially in the spring/summer months. A Mojito is the perfect cocktails to refresh you and kick off the night in style! Mojito’s are so so easy to make so we couldn’t leave them out of our list of 3 Delicious Cocktails for Your Hen Party. Why not make them at home yourself chicks, check it out;

What You’ll Need

• 1/2 a lime, cut into four wedges
• 10 mint leaves
• Ice (enough to fill glass)
• 1 shot of rum
• 120 ml soda water
• Sugar (2 tbl spoons/to individual taste)
• 1 Glass
• Mortar/Spoon

Method

• Put mint leaves and 1 lime wedge into the glass and crush with mortar to release flavours and juice
• Add 2 more lime wedges and sugar and crush again
• Avoid straining the mixture
• Fill the glass with ice
• Add the shot of rum and soda water to fill the glass
• Stir well and garnish with a lime wedge on the edge of the glass
• Add more sugar if desired
• Include raspberry’s/strawberry’s for a more summery cocktail

Porn Star Martini

A Porn Star Martini is absolutely amazing! It’s definitely one of our new favourites. This cocktail is a little more complicated but we can guarantee it is totally worth it! Check it out ladies;

What You’ll Need

• 25ml Vanilla Vodka
• 25ml Passionfruit Puree
• 15ml Passionfruit Syrup
• 25ml Passionfruit Liquor
• Prosecco/Champagne
• Martini Glass
• Shot Glass

Method

• Chill the martini glass with ice
• Put all of the ingredients into a shaker (except the prosecco/champagne) and shake well
• Remove ice from the glass
• Strain the mixture into the chilled glass
• Pour a shot of Prosecco/Champagne to accompany the cocktail

Tom Collins

If you are a gin lover then a Tom Collins is exactly what you need. This is another cocktail that is so simple to make but will have all the chicks raving!

What You’ll Need

• Tall slim glass
• Straw
• A spoon
• 1 shot of Gin
• Juice of half a lemon
• 2 shots of soda water
• 2 tea spoons of caster sugar
• Lemon wedge
• Ice

Method

• Add the lemon juice, gin and sugar to the glass and stir
• Add ice to the glass
• Top off with soda water and stir again
• Garnish with the lemon wedge and straw and enjoy!
