One of our favourite things about the summer has to be summer hen parties! In summer everyone is in great form, the sun is (sometimes) shinning and the wedding and hen party season is in full swing. What we love about summer hen parties most has to be the choice the group has. From all the amazing activities available to the choice of going camping or to a festival!

Garden Hen Parties

If you want something classy yet simple for the summer you can’t go wrong with a garden hen party. Held in one of the bridesmaids or brides houses a garden hen party is the perfect way to soak up the sunshine on the big day. If the weather is good a BBQ or afternoon tea outside is perfect. On top of all the fab food and drink a garden is the perfect place to play all your hen party games. We especially love a garden hen party if the hen is a full weekend. That way you get the chilled out vibes of a garden party along with the madness of a night on the town with all your chicks!

Cocktails

What’s a summer hen party without some cocktails. Belini’s, Sex on the beach, mojito’s and margaritas are all definite winners for a summer hen. If you fancy incorporating the cocktails into your activity a cocktail making class could be perfect for all the group. There are also loads of activities apart from cocktail making that you can drink along the way like Paint a Nude and one of our favourites Build A Willy.

Festivals

Summer is the season of festivals so it’s no surprise that summer festival hens are quickly becoming a thing! With everything from Indiependence in Cork to Sea Sessions in Donegal and everything else in between. A festival hen party is perfect for a bride to be that loves music and those festival vibes. Definitely not for everyone but we certainly love it! Get all the girls in their flower crowns and best boho look and make sure the bride to be is the only one wearing white. Temporary tattoos are a fab addition to a festival hen party as well!

Many women are more health conscious and don’t feel the need to drink on a night out then they may have a few years ago.

Roller Disco is a hen party activity that just won’t work out too well if alcohol is involved. This activity is so much fun and will have all the girls in fits laughing from start to finish. There’s bound to be a few fallers along the way which makes it all the funnier.

Dance Class

Whether you decide to go for Burlesque dancing, Pole dancing, Single Ladies or any other type of dance a dance class works so well for an alcohol free hen! Dance Classes are a great way to start the hen party, not only will you pick up some killer moves for the big day but you’ll have so much fun doing it. A dance class can be personalised to suit you and the group as well by picking the song you’ll dance to…LOVE IT!

Games

Hen party games set the tonne for the whole night and are where the banter well and truly gets going. There are so many games that you don’t need a single drop of alcohol for! Here are just a couple of our favourites for your alcohol free hen party!

Toilet Paper Game

The toilet paper game is brilliant for the hen party and doesn’t include any alcohol at all. Get all the chicks into groups giving each group a few rolls of toilet paper to create the ultimate toilet paper wedding dress. The bride to be then gets to choose the winning group after they have strutted their stuff on the cat walk.

Jenga Dares

Jenga Dares is another game where you don’t need any alcohol for it to go amazingly well! This game is really cheeky and fun and will kick off the night with a bang! Basically it is the exact same as regular Jenga but for each piece that you pull out there is a dare written on it. Each of the chicks must then complete the dare. Of course you can incorporate alcohol into this but it is definitely not needed!

Hey Chicks,

So you are now a taken woman, they have popped the question and you are officially a bride to be! There are a few essential steps to follow when you get engaged.

Step One – Just enjoy your own company for a few hours or even a few days before family and friends begin to smother you with their love.

Step Two – Tell your parents. Traditionally the bride’s parents are told first but this totally depends on your own situation. Then tell your best friends followed by other close family and friends. At this step you can put it on social media if you wish.

Step Three – Get that rock on your finger insured! This is a very important step and is really a must. You don’t want anything happening to that ring.

Step Four – Ask your closest family/friends to be in your wedding party. This can be the really fun bit. There are loads of different ways you can ask. Check them all out on Pinterest.

Step Five – Now you have your recruits to help you with the wedding planning, get cracking! Start looking for a venue, thinking about the date and most importantly book an appointment for a bridal shop to try on your all dream dresses.

Finally just enjoy the ride. This is a major milestone, you just got engaged. You should be enjoying it and celebrating so plenty of champagne should be on the cards.
